Four earn October AOM

The fall schedule is winding down and it's been a great year for the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.  This is the PCAC Athletes-of-the-Month for October.

The men had two representatives in San Diego City's Dalton Kinney and Palomar's Kevin McCollum while the women were represented by MiraCosta's Mia Bochis and Palomar's Alina Lecakes-Jones. 

ATHLETES-OF-THE-MONTH (MEN)

Dalton Kinney, San Diego City (men's soccer)

Kinney has been a big factor in keeping the Knights in contention for the conference championship. As a central defender, Kinney helped the Knights earn three consecutive shutouts in October and four wins overall in the month. He has also come through on offense by scoring three goals and assisting on two others. Kinney leads the team in scoring with six goals on the season as the team currently sits in second place and right on the heels of first place Cuyamaca.

Kevin McCollum, Palomar (men's water polo)

McCollum has had an outstanding October. The sophomore from Escondido High School scored 18 goals for Palomar in October conference matches and 30 during the entire month, including a season-best of seven against San Diego Miramar College. He has also recorded 14 steals. McCollum is fifth in the conference for goals at 69 and has scored at least one goal in every game on October.

 

ATHLETES-OF-THE-MONTH (WOMEN)

Mia Bochis, MiraCosta (women's soccer)

Bochis has been a force on the back and for MiraCosta, keeping the Spartans in the race for the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference title.  Out of the eight games MiraCosta played in October, five of the games were shutouts.  In addition, the Spartans went 6-1-1 on October, outscoring opponents 21-3.

Alina Lecakes-Jones, Palomar (women's volleyball)

During the month of October, Lecakes-Jones had 74 kills and 44 digs.  She had a career-high 19 kills against Cuyamaca College.  LeCakes-Jones also racked up 15 against Southwestern and 10 against MiraCosta.  Lecakes-Jones also had a career-high hitting percentage of .474 against Southwestern and had 16 digs against San Diego City College.
