It was looking bleak for the Knights after dropping the first two sets and being down, 16-12, in the third set, but they fought back and put together a furious rally to win Friday's home match over Miramar in five sets with Destiny Andersen tallying 20 kills and a season-high 31 digs.
Sydney Bishop recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 16 digs to go with eight total blocks and four aces.
With City trailing 16-12 in the third set, Andersen put down a kill that seemed to spark the Knights. They scored four straight to tie it and then took a 22-19 lead. Miramar got to within a point, but the Knights closed out the set with a Biship solo block and an Anderson kill.
The Knights were down 20-16 in the fourth set, tied it at 20-20, but Miramar regained a 23-21 advantage and looked as though they would hang on for the win. City, however, had other plans. A Bishop solo block, a Miramar error, an Andersen kill, and another Bishop block gave the Knights a 4-0 run they needed to force a fifth and final set.
Miramar jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the fifth set, but the Knights battled back as they did in the previous two sets. They put together an incredible 14-2 run to complete the comeback and win the match, 3-2 (12-25, 9-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-7).
Allison Wygal dished out 26 assists to go with four digs, while Samantha Hernandez added nine digs with five aces.
It was the Knights' second straight win as they improved to 2-1 in the PCAC and 3-5 overall.
They play at Palomar on Wednesday, Sept. 27 and return to Harry West Gym on Sept. 29 against Cuyamaca.
