Jenica Stell had herself a week with a hat trick in Tuesday's win at Grossmont and another four-goal performance in Friday's 6-3 home win over Palomar. All six goals came in the first half as the Knights earned their second straight win to improve to 4-9 in the PCAC.
Stell got started early by dribbling in from midfield to beat Palomar's goalkeeper in the fifth minute. The Knights grabbed a 2-0 lead in the 19th minute when Stell, dribbling in from the left side, sent in a cross to Hannah Hawk who headed in her fifth goal of the year.
In the 27th minute, Stell found herself on another break away and calmly put in her second goal of the day to put the Knights ahead by three. Then, after a foul, Mia Martinez' free kick from her own side of the field found Stell inside the box. Stell let the ball bounce and then jumped up to head the ball in past Palomar's keeper for her third score of the day in the 31st minute.
After a goal by Palomar's Ashley Martinez, City's Mia Martinez got in on the goal fest by blasting one in from 12 yards out in the 38th minute.
Palomar answered with another goal from Martinez less than a minute later to make it 5-2 City, but Stell kept attacking and got behind Palomar's defense once again for her fourth goal of the first half.
Palomar's Audrey Breaux cut City's lead to 6-3 four minutes into the second half, but that ended up being the final goal of the game. The Knights' defense bunkered in and protected their 3-goal lead the rest of the way.
San Diego City's final game of the season will be at home on Tuesday vs. Miramar at 1 p.m.
