Comets fall to Olympians

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/25/2023) -- The Palomar College Comets looked to take down No. 4 San Diego Mesa College but fell short in a 3-0 loss to the Olympians.

The Olympians' attack was too much for the Comets in set one, taking it 25-13, but the Comets adjusted and responded well in the second set, narrowly missing out on the set win, dropping it 25-20. Palomar jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third set, but Mesa came back as the two battled it out. In the end Mesa won the set 25-17 to take the match.

Freshman Janell Spires led the Comets with seven kills, while freshman Delina Becker finished the night with five. Freshman libero Cadence Young finished the night with 11 digs, while sophomore setter Mayara Swillens finished with seven digs and 22 assists.

Palomar falls to 8-11 overall and 6-5 in conference play. They will head to San Diego City College on Friday for a 5 p.m. match.
