(San Diego, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball team fell one match short of the 3C2A State Championships, as the No. 8 South Seed Mounties fell to the No. 1 South Seed San Diego Mesa, 3-1, on Saturday, November 25. With the win, Mesa advances to the 3C2A State Championships, hosted at Mt. San Antonio College from December 1-3.

The Mounties, who fell by scores of 25-14, 25-27, 25-14, 24-14, finished with an overall record of 18-10.

Prior to Saturday's season-ending loss, the Mounties had been on a late-season roll with five consecutive wins and had won six out of the last seven matches. In addition, they also had another winning streak of six matches in a row, five of which were South Coast Conference wins, as they ended up with an 11-5 SCC record, tying for third place with Pasadena City College.

Also highlighting the season were two early wins over highly ranked Grossmont and a 3-0 win over Moorpark on the same day. In the second round of the 3C2A playoffs, the Mounties, who had already lost to conference rival LBCC twice during the season, defeated the Vikings with a 3-0 sweep to advance to Saturday's regional final against Mesa.

In the loss to the Olympians, outside hitter Andrea Brewer (12 Digs, 1 Service Ace) led the Mounties with nine kills. She led the team this season with 364 kills and a 3.71 kills per-set average. Candace Ceballos (10 D, 1 SA) and sophomore middle blocker Zyra Green had eight and seven kills, respectively, for the Mounties.

Leading the team, as she has all season in assists (914, 8.96/set), was setter Capri Salmon with 24. The sophomore had a career-high of 50 assists in a win over Orange Coast, nine matches with 40 or more, and seven matches with 30 or more assists.

The Mounties bid farewell to six sophomores but will welcome back 10 returners for the 2024 season.
