Eagle Volleyball Wins a Pair; Close in on Conference Opener

The MSJC women's volleyball team improved to 10-4 on the season as they won two more non-conference matches defeating San Diego Miramar and Cuyumaca.

Wednesday the Eagles traveled to San Diego and swept San Diego Miramar by scores of; 25-16, 25-14, and 25-12.  Brooklynn Thomas knocked down a team high 14 kills in the victory, Megan Gajda added 9 and Cambria Lomenick knocked down 6 to lead the offense.  Thomas also picked up a team high 14 digs.  Lilly Galvan added 12 digs and Trysta Vincelli had 11 digs to go along with her match high 23 assists.

Friday MSJC rolled to another straight sets victory as they defeated Cuyumaca 25-9, 25-14, and 25-12 in San Jacinto.  Carley Kruse had a match best 15 kills while Gajda added 10 for the Eagles.  Genevieve Mezamartinez passed out a match high 22 assists.  On defense Thomas had 12 digs and Kruse had a pair of block assists.

The Eagles have now won 9 of their last 10 matches and have one more non-conference match on the schedule prior to entering Inland Empire Athletic Conference play.  MSJC will travel to Citrus on Friday for a 5 pm match, and then host College of the Desert in their IEAC opener Wednesday September 27th.
