(Oceanside, CA) With the No. 6 seed in the Southern California Regionals, Mt. San Antonio College (19-5) traveled to No. 3 MiraCosta College (16-9) to face the host Spartans and No. 11 Santa Monica College (13-8) in the opening round of the playoffs.

In their opening match, the Mounties defeated SMC, 3-2, setting up a winner-take-all showdown against MiraCosta, which also downed SMC, 4-1. With a trip to the 3C2A State Championships on the line, the Spartans prevailed, 4-1, bringing Mt. SAC's season to an end.

During the SMC match, the Mounties' Elizabeth Ortiz rolled her ankle badly, but, with the support of teammate Capri Salmon, battled on against MiraCosta. "[Ortiz] was such a stud, and Capri too for helping her through it," said Mt. SAC head coach Samantha Neely.

That's a wrap on the 2024 team season that included the Mounties placing third in the South Coast Conference standings at 7-3, rambling off a 10-match winning streak from Feb. 9 to March 8, and going 15-1 from Feb. 9 to April 5.

The Mt. SAC Beach Volleyball team will have two pairs representing the Mounties in the 3C2A Southern California Regional Pairs Championships. The Mounties' Andrea Brewer and Zyra Green placed third, along with Candace Ceballos and Angelina Griego, who finished fifth in the SCC Pairs Championships. The So Cal Pairs Championship will take place on Friday and Saturday (May 3, 4).
