Coyotes take down Desert Warriors

Rancho San Diego

Fresh off of two losses, the Lady Coyotes of Cuyamaca College regrouped and took down the Imperial Valley Desert Warriors in straight sets. The team lead by Coach Laura Ratto showed that the earlier conference losses served as a wake-up call for the Coyotes. The team led by setter Erin Geary and outside hitter Izzy Woodhams worked as a unit and improved on previous errors and missed opportunities. However, Imperial Valley wasn't a push over. The Desert Warriors are to be commended as they fought hard and continuously fought back for each point and kept each game close.

Chelsea Hannibal stepped up on the offensive side with accurate serves and impressive blocks on defense. However, the week started with the loss of two key players in the Coyote line-up due to injuries. Carissa Peralta and Lana Mason both were sidelined for the game with injuries. However, the loss of two key weapons allowed others to step up. Angela Valdez stepped in as the only libero for the Coyotes and did a marvelous job. The straight set win was Cuyamaca's first in several years. This win signals that Cuyamaca is on the right track and the new team dynamics are working. Go Coyotes!
