Spartans Win Two in a Row

Although the MiraCosta women's volleyball team had to go on the road, the end results ended up positive.  The first game of the week had the Spartans travel to San Diego Miramar College.  The Jets were a fiesty undersized team that stole a game from the Spartans, but when it ended, MiraCosta left with a 3-1 win.

Against Miramar College, Daysha Halbert led the way, finishing with an impressive 20 kills, kitting a .422.  Halbert is a freshman outside hitter that has shown come dynamic athleticism on the court. Ryanne Davis and Ana Lara both added six kills for the Spartans.  Quinn Curran (20 assists) and Cameron-Jade Caimpon (12 assists) distributed the ball and also provided solid defensive positioning, combining for 18 digs. Halbert also added 12 digs and sophomore libero Lacey Garcia added 10.

 

In the second game of the week the Spartans made the long road trip out to El Centro, to take on Imperial Valley College.  The long trip didn't change MiraCosta's focus, leaving with a quick 3-0 sweep (25-10, 25-14, 25-14.)

The offensive was more balanced this night with Ana Lara (12), Alexis Jones (10), Daysha Halbert (8) and Eesha Chun-Dela Cruz (7) all contributing.  Setter Quinn Curran recorded 35 assists in the three game match.

Overall, the Spartans hit an impressive .379 and finished with seven service aces.

MiraCosta's next match is Wednesday, October 4, at San Diego City College.
