COD Volleyball splits at LA Mission Invite

COD (4-8) traveled to Sylmar to face off with a pair of teams, falling in their first match of the day to host LA Mission and then winning a 4-set match over the San Diego Miramar Jets.

In the second match, freshman setter Ashley Estrada (Queen Creek (AZ) American Leadership Academy) led the team with 41 assists, a season high, and added 10 digs and freshman middle blocker Stacie Alexander (Yucca Valley H.S.) led the team with 2 solo blocks and 2 assist blocks, adding 6 kills. Freshman right side Sarah Nieto (La Quinta H.S.) led the team with 2 service aces and added 9 digs and freshman outside hitter Bella Branconier (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) set a season high for kills with 19, adding 6 digs and an assist block. Sophomore middle blocker Melanie Hernadez (Thermal Coachella Valley) set a season high for kills with 10 and added 15 digs and sophomore defensive specialist Liana Whitley (Palm Desert H.S.) had 10 digs and a service ace. Sophomore libero Briana Delval (Indio H.S.) had 10 digs and a service ace.

In the first match, facing off with the host Eagles, Estrada led the team with 19 assists and added 6 digs and Hernadez led the team with 12 digs, adding 3 service aces. Branconier had 11 kills and Alexander had 2 solo blocks and 2 assist blocks. Delval had 12 digs and added 2 service aces.
