These Jaguars bring the BOOM!

Volleyball has made its awaited return to the courts of Southwestern College, and it was a family affair. Bright, colorful homemade signs could be spotted in the bleachers from a lively crowd, as they welcomed the Jaguars Volleyball team for the home opener of the season with an organized cacophony of hoots and hollers.

The first home match of the season was played against the Falcons of Cerritos College. And although the evening was short for the Jaguars, they were swept losing all three periods of the match, there are many positive signs to take away from the loss such as a strong defense, and great set up techniques.

The season is very fresh, so growing pains are to be expected. The Jaguars looked a bit scrambled on offense and could benefit from more communication during rallies. Although, most of the team did get an opportunity to play in this inaugural match.

The crowd involved themselves as much as possible in support of the Jaguars. Raucous cheers from the crowd would erupt when the Jaguars scored successfully, collectively stomping their feet against the bleacher steps sending a rumble throughout the auditorium resembling a stampede from Jumanji. It sure felt that way too! A ramping cheer for the Jaguars was hollered from the bleachers. An increasing, "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! BOOOOOMMMM!!!" was collectively shouted, rooting the Jaguars on, emphasizing the powerful strike on each serve of the ball.

The Jaguars are winless so far this season, but with all of the natural talent on display tonight, this trend will certainly begin to change.
