For the first time since 2015, the Cerritos College volleyball team is off to a 3-0 start to their season. The Falcons (3-0), who defeated host Southwestern College on Friday, 25-14, 25-22, 25-17, will look to extend their winning streak on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. when they play host to the Cal Lutheran JV team. The 2015 team started the season winning their first five matches.

Against the Jaguars (0-3), the convincing win allowed more of the non-starters to see extended playing time. As a result, nine different players recorded at least one kill, with freshman Lillianna Peterson (California HS) leading the way with eight kills, while the duo of sophomore Erykah Scott (Bellflower HS) and freshman Jasmine Soto-Castro (Schurr HS) both checked in with seven kills each.

The Falcons opened up early leads in the first and third sets, as they kept rallies alive with their defensive success. Freshman Priscilla Castillo (Schurr HS) recorded 17 of the team's 45 digs on the night, while six players combined to register 10 service aces.

Scott hit .583 on the night, with Castro-Soto successful with a .500 hitting percentage. Freshman setter Leeya Rubio (Schurr HS) and sophomore setter Isabella Carrasco (Downey HS) each dished out seven assists, with eight players recording at least one assist that led to a kill.
