Lady Coyotes on right path despite loss to Mesa

Rancho San Diego

Even with a loss to the #2 state ranked team, San Diego Mesa, the 2023 Lady Coyotes played well and demonstrated great promise for an exciting season to come. From the opening, the Coyotes showed no fear as Erin Geary aced the first serve. The crowd of nearly 50 spectators were treated to a spirited and competitive 75 minute battle in the 'Coyote Den' gymnasium.

"Better than yesterday is our team moto and all I ask of my team. Tonight they answered the call and I'm so proud of them. They competed tonight and demonstrated that the things we are working on in practice are coming together. If we can play this well against the second ranked team in the state, this trends well for our season to come." - Coach Laura Ratto

The Coyote front may be small by some comparisons, but make up for their lack of height by anticipating ball strikes and getting a number of blocks and touches. Coach Ratto was also complimentary of her liberoes and their ability to command the floor. Based on the team's play and the enthusiasm of their coach, the Lady Coyotes will only get better and if they heed their moto, then they'll continue to be 'better than yesterday' and thats not a bad thing to be.
