Knights Stay in First Place With 7-2 Win at IVC

San Diego City's women's tennis team won its second consecutive match, 7-2 at Imperial Valley, on Tuesday to improve to 4-1 in the PCAC and 5-6 overall. With the win, the Knights remained in a first place tie with Mt. San Jacinto with only three conference matches remaining in the season. 

The Knights got off to a good start after winning two of the three doubles matches. Sinaia Haskal and Anya Villanueva defeated Imperial Valley's No. 1 duo (Aceves/Martinez), 8-1, while Lucia Farmer and Jessica Hoffpauir won their No. 2 match, 8-0, over IVC's (Chen/Robles). 

Then in singles, the Knights won five of the six matches to clinch the win. 

Haskal won her No. 1 singles match, 6-0 and 6-2, over Athenas Aceves, and Famer did not drop a game in a 6-0 and 6-0 victory at the No. 2 spot over Monzerrat Chen.

Hoffpauir got a 6-2 and 6-1 victory in No. 3 singles over Rianna Martinez, while Villanueva blanked IVC's Jessica Robles, 6-0 and 6-0, in the No. 4 position.

Madeline Satrya dropped her No. 5 match 1-6 and 5-7 to IVC's Adalie Espinoza, but Alreen Torres got a 6-1 and 6-1 win over Melanie Godinez at the No. 6 spot. 

The Knights will travel to Fresno to play two non-conference matches on Friday against San Francisco City (10 a.m.) and Frenso City (2 p.m.). Both matches will be played at Frenso City College.
