Eagle Softball Splits Final Two Games of Season to Finish 20-13

The MSJC softball team wrapped up the 2024 season last week splitting a pair of non-conference games on the road with Long Beach City and Southwestern.

Monday the Eagles traveled to 6th ranked Long Beach and came out on the short end of a 7-3 game with the Vikings.  Alyssa Jimenez had two hits including a double for MSJC, she also drove home a run.  Bailey Heuer and Laila Andrade both also knocked in a run each for the Eagles.  Madison Morris was the only other Eagle to record two hits in the game.

Wednesday MSJC closed out their season with a 5-1 win at Southwestern.  Andrade had two RBIs in the win while Heuer, and Natalie Juarez also knocked in a run a piece.  Annalie Castanon had a strong game at the plate as she had 3 hits and picked up an RBI.  Katryna Detert pitched the first 4 and 2/3 innings for MSJC to pick up the win as she allowed just one run in the bottom of the first inning.

The Eagles concluded the season with an overall mark of 20-13, improving on last year's 17-15 record in Coach Jessica Brambilla's first season.

The Inland Empire Athletic Conference also handed out their season ending awards over the weekend with eight Eagles being recognized.  Bailey Heuer, Trinity Robinson, Stephanie Wagner, Natalie Juarez, and Carolina Blanco all earned First Team All IEAC honors.  Marissa Sanchez and Annalie Castanon were named to the 2nd Team and Alyssa Jimenez was tabbed Honorable Mention all league.  Robinson also earned IEAC Pitcher of the Year honors.  Coach Jessica Brambilla was named the IEAC Coach of the Year.
