Comets roll past Knights to even conference record

SAN MARCOS, CA (9/27/2023) -- Palomar was able to bounce back from last week with a 3-0 sweep over San Diego City College on Wednesday night.

The Comets took set one 25-12 and set two 25-10. The Knights gave the Comets a fight in the third set, but the Comets were able to pull away to win it 25-20. 

Sophomore setter Mayara Swillens was outstanding. She finished the night with 26 assists, three digs, four blocks and five aces. She also recorded one kill on three attacks. Freshman Janell Spires has not slowed down as they move through their conference schedule. She finished the night with 11 kills on 19 attacks and had 10 digs. Freshman Delinah Becker finished with eight kills, two aces and five digs. Sophomore Hope Ihem had three blocks and four kills. Service specialist Melanie Jarvis finsihed with four aces and four digs.

The Comets improve to 4-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play. They will head to San Diego Miramar College on Friday for a 5 p.m. first serve.
