A friendly contest of volleyball was held on the courts of Southwestern College. Tonight, is the SWC Alumni game. Southwestern invites Jaguar volleyball alumni for a friendly competition. Jaguar alumni hoped to demonstrate how old-school v-ball is better than new school meanwhile the current iteration of the Jaguars could not wait to school the "old timers."

The friendly began with successful scoring from the new school Jags. Maria Garcia scored the first point of the match with a powerful strike that caught the Alumni flatfooted.

Jaguars Alumni and Assistant Coach Natalia Tello quickly demonstrated no mercy to her volleyball grasshoppers. In the fourth rally of the match, Tello received a pass from an Alumni teammate. Tello jumped high in the air and smashed the ball with complete authority. Tello made sure everyone was aware that she was playing for keeps.

The Alumni kept crushing the ball winning the first and second sets in convincing fashion.

"It was really fun! It was fun having them like talk-smack," said Tello about the sibling like teasing she endured from her volleyball students. "Beating them was the best part."

The third set was as equally exciting as it was fun. A fantastic rally occurred, it was long and both sides had dramatic kill shots attempted. Digs were scored on both sides. Blocks sounded like thunder clapping. The play finally ended with the Jaguars scoring their fifteenth point of the set successfully. This momentum carried the Jaguars to battle the Alumni into extended play.

Jaguars Alumni needed to score a twenty-eighth point to end the set and finish the match.

"It was really fun!" Current Jaguars captain Cristina Guerrero shared thoughts about facing her coach and former team-mate, "It was really fun to see her lose sometimes and get angry at us! It was fun to beat her in some sense."
