Palomar has solid showing at SoCal Preview

With three races in the books, Palomar College looks like one of the early favorites to capture the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference women's cross country title.  The Comets turned in a solid performance at the SoCal Preview meet in Mission Bay on Friday.

Palomar finished sixth out of 23 qualifying teams on Friday, finishing 28-32-34-54-74.  The Comets were led by Addison Rose, who tackled the 5k run in 21:33.4 for 28th place.  Rose was followed closely by teammates Liliana Prieto (21:40.3) and Alexia Delgadillo (21:43.4), who finished 32nd and 34th, respectively.

San Diego Mesa also showed signs that they could threaten the PCAC title by finishing 13th overall at the meet.  The Olympians had the best individual finish from PCAC athletes at the meet, with freshman Yahairi Zuniga finishing 11th place in individual competition.  Zuniga crossed the tape in 20:19.5, which was less than three seconds out of eighth place.

Other PCAC schools involved in the meet included Imperial Valley College (20th), San Diego City College (22nd) and Southwestern College (23rd).
