Palomar captures PCAC title

The Palomar women's cross country team captured the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship at Morley Field on Friday in San Diego.  The Comets had four harriers in the top-10 and five make the all-conference team.

Palomar distances themselves from San Diego Mesa College in finishing with 31 team points.  The Comets finished 2-3-5-8-13, led by freshman Addison Rose.  She finished the 5k trek in 20:00.3, which was just under 30 seconds off the pace set by Mesa's Yahaira Zuniga.  Palomar's Alexia Delgadillo finished in third place with a time of 20:35.7 while Jolie Beentjes was fifth (21:26.0), Brianna Frain eighth (22:08.4) and Mila Beentjes 13th (23:27.0).

Mesa's Yahaira Zuniga was the runaway winner at the meet, finishing with a time of 19:30.8.  The Olympians had three others finish in the top-10 with Adrianna Leal finishing fourth (21:15.9), Grace Calegari sixth (21:37.5) and Beyonce Wright seventh (21:46.2).

San Diego City College finished in third place at the PCAC Finals on the strength of three top-15 finishes.  Joanna Lopez led the way for the Knights, finishing in ninth place with a time of 22:23.4.  She was followed by a 10th place finish from Nayeli Villarreal (22:43.2) and an 11th place finish from Yesenia Huerta (22:50.2).

Cuyamaca College had two athletes make the all-conference squad with Asley Prus (12th) and Natalie Smith (15th) while Imperial Valley College had one all-conference finish with Johanna Collins (14th).
