SAN DIEGO, CA (1/3/2023) In the final week of the year, freshman Xavier Rubio (Cuyamaca) and sophomore Deajanae Harvey (Palomar) made sure to make themselves known. 

Cuyamaca hosted their Cuyamaca Classic and went 1-2, but Rubio posted big numbers to help his team in any way possible. Through three games, he posted 68 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists and seven steals. Against San Diego Mesa College on the first day, Rubio had his second-highest scoring game with 28 points, going 11-20 in the field.

No. 1 Palomar hosted the PCAC/OEC Holiday Crossover for the second year and Harvey went off on the second day to score 35 points (11-15 at the free throw line) in a routing of Riverside City College. Harvey, no stranger to this award, rounded out the week with 46 total points, 11 rebounds, 13 assists and 14 steals as the Comets finished their non-conference schedule with a perfect 14-0 record.
