Comets sweep Athletes of the Week

SAN DIEGO, CA (2/27/2023) -- After a week of rain and game postponements, this week's Athletes of the Week were limited. Palomar College's Tyler Yraceburn and Emma Hart, however, didn't let the weather get the best of them as they put on a performance.

Yraceburn, an opposite hitter on the men's volleyball team, helped lead the Comets to their first win this season, a 3-1 routing of Golden West College on Friday night. The Comets split the week with a 3-0 loss to Fullerton College on Wednesday night. Over the two matches, Yraceburn totaled 31 kills, 5 service aces, 15 digs, two blocks and a .382 kill percentage. He had a season-best .452 kill percentage on Friday night and also racked up 10 digs and four service aces.

Hart, a standout on Palomar's women's swim team, proved she's going to be a force this season. The Comets competed in two events last week, the Golden West Sprint Invite and the Mt. SAC Swimming and Diving Invitational. She swam in five total events over the two days and won all five events. At the Mt. SAC Invitational, she completely ran away with the 200Y back, finishing with a time of 2:11.11. The second-place swimmer finished with a time of 2:25.73. She was also a whole three seconds faster than the second-place swimmer in the 200Y Fly.
