Grossmont’s Beezer named CCCWVCA Athlete of the Week

Los Medanos College sophomore outside hitter Noelle Mixon, who leads the state in overall kills, and Grossmont top OH and sophomore team captain Kate Beezer are the Week #5 selections as CCCWVCA State Players of the Week.

Mixon, a 5-foot-9 player from Clayton Valley Charter High in Concord, tops all state hitters with 323 kills and 350 points. She is approaching 700 kills in her career after landing 350 as a freshman.

As the North Region POTW, she scored 65 kills in four matches last week, helping LMC to a 3-1 record. In a sweep over Sequoias, she powered 21 kills, hit .576, and added 16 digs.

Beezer, who played at Chico State University as a freshman, is a 5-10 transfer out of Christian High in El Cajon and this week's South Region POTW. Last week, she blasted 22 kills (.368), made 17 digs and served 3 aces in a 4-set win over Palomar. As the team's most consistent passer, she is averaging 3.5 kills and 2.8 digs per set.

Beezer helped Grossmont to a 3-0 start to Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play.
