SAN DIEGO, CA (10/16/2023) -- San Diego Miramar College's Chloe Fairchild and Palomar College's Arturo Atilano-Gutierrez have been named the conference athletes of the week.

Fairchild and the Jets have been a force so far this season. A year after not having a team, Miramar women's water polo is back. Through three conference games, the Jets are undefeated and are 14-3 overall. Last week, Fairchild had 10 goals, nine assists, 13 steals and six blocks, as the Jets went 4-1. In their conference match, they faced defending conference champions Palomar College and won 21-13 before going 3-1 over the weekend. Fairchild had a season-high four goals, three assists, two blocks and three steals against the Comets. Against Pasadena City College, Fairchild had a season-high five steals.

Atilano-Gutierrez and the Comets split the week last week. They lost 2-1 to Cuyamaca College on Tuesday, but the Atilano-Guttierrez scored the lone goal for the Comets. On Friday, the Comets responded with a 7-0 win over Imperial Valley College. Atilano-Gutierrez had his first hat trick of the season. It was his first multi-goal game of the season. He also dished out one assist. Palomar is currently in third place in conference standings through the first round. They are behind Cuyamaca College and MiraCosta College.
