SAN DIEGO, CA (1/29/2024) -- San Diego Miramar College's Mike Batchelor and San Diego City College's Cerina Nguyen have been named this week's Athletes of the Week.

Batchelor and the Jets were able to bounce back last week after dropping two games the weke before. They eased past Cuyamaca College with a 74-44 win and proceeded to sweep the week with a 96-70 win over San Diego Mesa College. Batchelor had a season-high 24 points against the Olympians shooting an impressive 72.7 percent in the field. He totaled 11 rebounds and six assists to go along with two steals. 

Nguyen, a second-time honoree, had a season-high 37 points against Southwestern College on Wednesday night and totaled 10 against Grossmont College on Friday. She went 18-27 in the field against the Jaguars. She tied her season-high in rebounds (17) on Wednesday night and turned around on Friday to collect 18. She had seven blocks on the week, five coming against the Griffins, and finished with nine steals.
