North
West Valley's Mateja Cetkovic may have had the best four-game performance of anyone at the WVC's 2024 Nyquist Invitational. The sophomore utility from Serbia totaled 12 goals in #2-ranked West Valley's dominant wins over San Joaquin Delta (26-12), #5 Long Beach City (17-5), #7 Cerritos (20-5) and Modesto (24-10). He had four steals against Cerritos and gave the Vikings a 4-0 lead with four straight goals against Modesto.
South
Despite San Diego Miramar's two losses on its opening weekend at the Miramar Mini, the Jets' Connor Meeks was outstanding. The first-year utility out of Murietta High School lit up the scoreboard with six goals on 11 shots against rival San Diego Mesa and then followed that up against Rio Hondo with a game-high 12 goals on 16 shots.
WOMEN
North
Bella Raynes stood out in #4 West Valley's season-opening 13-11 OT loss to #3 Long Beach City and its 11-8 defeat at the hands of top-ranked Santa Barbara City at the Cuesta Invitational. Raynes, a 6-0 sophomore from Auckland, New Zealand, found the back of the cage four times against Long Beach and posted a team-high five goals against the Vaqueros.
South
According to coach Kim Keach, Grossmont's Rasma Rotsart was "nominated by her teammates for her leadership and dedication to the team and academics." The Helix High School product also excelled in the water, posting a combined three goals, six drawn ejections, two steals and four field blocks in the Griffins' 12-7 loss to San Diego Miramar and thrilling 9-8 win over Mt. San Antonio at the Palomar Mini.
