
The Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) is proud to recognize the outstanding performances of its student-athletes for the month of September. Athletes from six different sports demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship, earning them the prestigious Athlete of the Month title for September 2024.
Men's Cross Country:
Ronald Way – San Diego Mesa College
Ronald delivered strong performances, finishing 2nd at the Crush Invitational with a time of 20:55.9. He also placed in the top 20 at the Cougar Classic hosted by Cal State San Marcos, clocking in at 25:02.2.
Women's Cross Country:
Alexis Noble – San Diego Mesa College
Alexis showcased her endurance and consistency, securing 3rd place at the Crush Invitational with a time of 19:13.7. She also earned a top 20 finish at the Cougar Classic, crossing the line in 22:19.0.
Men's Soccer:
Arturo Atilano-Guttierez, Forward – Palomar College
Arturo dominated the soccer field with a conference-leading eight goals, the fourth most in the state. He accumulated 17 points, including three game-winning goals and one assist, highlighted by a hat trick in a 5-2 victory over Orange Coast College.
Women's Soccer:
Aaliyah Campbell, Goalkeeper – Southwestern College
Aaliyah has been a defensive powerhouse, allowing only two goals for a remarkable 0.20 goals-against average, the fourth best in the state. With 57 saves and nine shutouts, her efforts in goal have been crucial to her team's success.
Men's Water Polo:
Jake Simpson – Grossmont College
Jake excelled in both offense and defense, scoring 32 goals and providing 17 assists, along with eight steals, five blocks, and 10 exclusions drawn. Notable performances included five goals in wins over Citrus College and the UC San Diego Club team.
Women's Water Polo:
Nalani Galindo – San Diego Miramar College
Nalani was unstoppable in the pool, scoring 36 goals and assisting on 12 others, while also making 21 steals and drawing 26 exclusions. She was a key factor in her team's win over Ventura College, contributing six goals in the 16-11 victory.
Women's Volleyball:
Daysha Halbert, Outside Hitter – MiraCosta College
Daysha has been an offensive force, tallying 149 kills with a .395 hitting percentage. She also contributed 18 service aces, 138 digs, and 10 blocks, with a standout 22-kill performance against Mt. San Jacinto College.
