
SAN DIEGO, CA (1/13/2025) -- The Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) is proud to announce the Men's and Women's Basketball Athletes of the Month for December 2024. These athletes excelled in scoring, rebounding, and leadership, helping their teams secure key victories and showcasing their talents on the court.
Male Basketball Player of the Month:
Winner: Jaidyn Norman (Palomar College)
- Stats: 14.1 PPG, 6.4 RPG, .485 FG%, .711 FT%
- Highlights: Norman's consistent scoring and rebounding made him an indispensable part of Palomar's offense. His standout performance came in a narrow victory against Pasadena City College, where his leadership and dominance in the paint were crucial. He demonstrated composure under pressure, hitting key free throws to secure the win.
Runners-Up:
Logan Huston (San Diego City College)
- Stats: 14.0 PPG, 3.9 RPG, .556 FG%, .708 FT%
- Highlights: Huston's efficient scoring and versatility made him a critical piece of San Diego City College's offense. He led the team in a dominant 89-56 victory over Grossmont College, contributing to their strong start in conference play.
Ayden Lockett (Southwestern College)
- Stats: 17.9 PPG, 5.4 RPG, .844 FT%
- Highlights: Lockett's prolific scoring and ability to get to the free-throw line were game-changers for Southwestern. He was unstoppable in a key win against LA Harbor College, showcasing his ability to carry the team in tough matchups.
Female Basketball Player of the Month:
Winner: Alethze Marquez (San Diego Mesa College)
- Stats: 12.7 PPG, 11.7 RPG, .438 FG%
- Highlights: Marquez's dominance in the paint earned her a double-double average for the month. She led Mesa with 16 points and 14 rebounds in a commanding 80-30 victory over LA Harbor, highlighting her ability to control the boards and score efficiently.
Runners-Up:
Kylee Trujillo (Palomar College)
- Stats: 14.1 PPG, 1.9 RPG, .350 FG%
- Highlights: Trujillo's sharpshooting was a significant factor for Palomar, with 15 three-pointers in December. Her clutch performance against Reedley College, where she helped secure a 92-75 win, demonstrated her value in high-pressure moments.
Amy Riley (Imperial Valley College)
- Stats: 14.0 PPG, 9.5 RPG, .474 FG%
- Highlights: Riley's scoring and rebounding prowess were on full display in December. At the Porterville Tournament, she recorded back-to-back double-doubles, leading her team to victories and solidifying her reputation as a consistent and physical presence on the court.
