
Cerro Coso Women's Basketball continues their impressive first season under Keyshawn Johnson's leadership. Advancing to 7-1 on the year, the Lady Yotes swept the San Diego City College tournament going 3-0. The defeated San Diego City 71-52, Imperial Valley 80-53, and Mira Costa 77-47.
In their final game against Mira Costa, Cerro Coso dominated outscoring them by 30 points.
Cerro Coso had a strong shooting performance, with a field goal percentage of 36.8% and a three-point percentage of 21.2%. They were also efficient from the free-throw line, shooting 58.8%.
Shaniyah McCarthy led Cerro Coso with 24 points, while Iliana Nye contributed 9 points and 12 rebounds. Shayla Kantarevic also had a solid performance, scoring 12 points.
On the other hand, MiraCosta struggled offensively, shooting only 27.0% from the field and 4.5% from three-point range. Faith Behrendt led MiraCosta with 13 points, while Le Aundra Walker-Brown added 9 points.
MiraCosta committed 12 turnovers in the game, compared to Cerro Coso's 17 turnovers. MiraCosta also had two technical fouls called against them.
Overall, Cerro Coso's strong shooting and rebounding performance led them to a decisive victory over MiraCosta.
The Lady Coytoes return to action on the road December 5th at College of Sequoias for the 47th annual Gilcrest Tournament.
