Volleyball Earns Home Win Over SD City

The MSJC volleyball team dominated three of the four sets played on Wednesday night as the Eagles defeated visiting San Diego City College 3-1.

MSJC raced out of the gates winning the opening set 25-11, but stumbled in the second as they allowed the Knights to even the match at a set a piece losing 20-25.  The Eagles regained the momentum in the third and fourth sets as they easily won by scores of 25-8 and 25-10 to wrap up the victory.

Megan Gajda and Josephine Springer both reached double figures in kills and digs.  Gajda knocked down a match best 16 kills and picked up 10 digs while Springer had 12 kills and a team best 11 digs.  Audrey Franks added 9 kills in the victory and Lorena Lopez had 7.  Setters Amari Ramirez and Kalia Anady both were solid as well with Ramirez dishing out 23 assists and Anady being credited with 15.  MSJC's defense at the net was the best it has been so far in the young season as they combined for 2 solo blocks and 21 block assists led by Hailey Frary who had a solo and 6 assists.  Lopez finished the night with the other solo block and had 4 block assists.

The win improved the Eagles record on the season to 2-4, they will be back in action on Friday at Pasadena City College.  MSJC will take on PCC at 11 am and then meet Ventura College at 1:30.
