Citrus College came out determined and grabbed a 2-0 win against Imperial Valley College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Owls improve to 2-1-1 on the year, while the Desert Warriors fall to 0-3-1 overall.

Citrus was pressing early and had a dangerous chance just three minutes into the game. Jacob Ponce played Sammy Ghandour in behind the Desert Warrior defense, but Ghandour's shot was just off target.

The Owls broke through in the 15th minute, however, as Isaac Ochoa scored his third goal of the season off a quick give-and-go pass with Hector Guerra inside the 18-yard box.

Coming out of the break with a 1-0 lead, Citrus was hungry for more.

Eduardo Marquez looked like he was on track to score in the 64th minute, but it hit the post and bounced out. Five minutes later, however, the bounce was in his favor as Marquez flicked Alan Lira's long throw back into the far post where it hit off the post and into the back of the net.

IVC pushed late to try to cut through the shut out but the Owl defense held on for the clean sheet with Christian Sanchez posting three saves.

Citrus heads out on the road for four-straight games, taking on Compton College first on Friday at 2 p.m.
