Comets ground Jets on the road

SAN DIEGO, CA (10/12/2023) -- Palomar Men's Water Polo got back into the win column on Wednesday afternoon with a 21-5 win over San Diego Miramar College in a conference matchup.

Palomar got straight to business, taking an 8-2 lead in the first quarter and shutting out the Jets in the second compared to the Comets six goals. Palomar then outscored Miramar 7-3 in the second half.

Sophomore Arleigh Williams had a career game, finishing with three goals on six shots, four assists, five steals and three thundering blocks. Sophomore TJ Turner has been stellar all season and Wednesday was no exception. He finished with a team-high five goals on eight shots. Freshman Phoenix Schultz ended the fay with two goals, two assists and two steals. Freshman Caleb Hogle finished wiht two goals and three assists, while Ian Ritchie finished with three assists and one goal.

Tre Turner and Peyton Mitchell split the goalkeeping duties. Turner started the game and ended with six saves on eight shots in two quarters while Mitchell finished with four saves on seven shots in the second half. 

Palomar moves to 8-10-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. They will host San Diego Mesa College at home on Wednesday for sole possession of first place in the conference. This weekend they will head to Cerritos College to face host Cerritos and West Valley College on Friday.
