SAN DIEGO, CA (10/22/2024) -- The Palomar College men's soccer team fought their way to a 2-2 tie against San Diego City College on Tuesday afternoon, moving to 4-7-4 overall and 1-3-3 in conference play. In a match marked by determination, the Comets managed to pull even in the final moments, thanks to a last-minute goal from Anthony Harte.
Down 1-0, Arturo Atilano-Gutierrez opened the scoring for the Comets in the second half, finding the net in the 47th minute off a well-placed assist from Harte. San Diego City responded with another goal of their own, taking a 2-1 lead into the final minutes. However, Palomar didn't back down, and Harte came through again, this time scoring the equalizer in the 89th minute with an assist from Josh Candanoza.
Palomar's offensive pressure was evident throughout the match, with the Comets tallying 16 total shots and earning five corner kicks. Goalkeeper Amanueal Kidanemariam contributed a strong performance with five saves, helping keep Palomar within striking distance.
