#11 Men's Basketball go 1-1 at Mira Costa's Clete Adelman Classic

Men's Basketball traveled to Oceanside to compete at the Clete Adelman Classic hosted by Mira Costa. The Raiders split two games defeating SD Miramar on night one while falling to the hosts on the second night. Side note: Mira Costa is coached by former Last Chance U (East LA) alum Rob Robinson.

On the opening night, the Jets gave all the Raiders could handle. Sticking to their first half M/O, the road Raiders took thier time shaking off the van lag in the opening frame. The first half saw both teams exchanging baskets with either team not leading by more than 3 points. There were 6 lead changes in the first half with the Raiders taking the final and five point lead into halftime, 35-30

In the second half, the Raiders used a 22-15 point run to open up 57-45 lead with 12:00 to go. Once again both teams exchanged baskets with the Jets cutting the Raider's lead to 4 with 6:30 to go but the Raiders were able to pad the lead in the last 5 minutes to down the Jets, 88-75

Jack Benyshek had a game high 28 points. Avi Halpert chipped in 21 points and Jamaal Unuakalu had another double-double, 17 points and 12 rebounds.

On night two playing the host Spartans, the Raider's M/O showed up once again. Using a combination of Raider turnovers, cold shooting, and using some of their own timely shooting, Mira Costa raced out to a 42-27 lead in the first half which would doom the Raiders the rest of the way.

In the second half, the Raiders would slowly cut into the Spartan's 25 point lead, cutting it to two points, 58-56, with 7:05 to play. At that point, Mira Costa went on a 10-4 run to pad their lead which the Raiders couldn't recover from, 79-71, Spartans.

Clark Holden had a team high 20 points with 6 rebounds. Jack Benyshek added 16 points while Avi Halpert chipped in 13 points.

The Raiders will take their holiday break before coming back and hosting Citrus College, Tuesday 1/2/24, at 1p.
