Playing the 3rd game of the Tommy A. Showcase, the #6 Women's Basketball team took on the #2 team in state Palomar College. In the end, the Raiders used a stifling defense with timley shooting to defeat the Comets, 63-56.
The Raiders raced out to a 15-8 first quarter lead frustrating the Palomar offense causing the Comets to go 4-15 from the field with 5 turnovers.
In the second quarter, the teams played eveny as the Raiders maintained their lead going into halftime, 35-28.
The 3rd quarter belonged to the Comets. Palomar's offense kept the pressure on, cutting into the Moorpark lead outscoring the hosts 23-16 and eventually tying the game, 51-51.
In the 4th quarter, the Comets shooting woes came back. With the Raiders applying defensive pressure, Palomar was 1-15 shooting, with 4 made free-throws and were scoreless in the final 6:32 minutes of the game. All the while, Mika Jarrett kept the Raiders on pace to win the game.
Jarrett had a game and team high 15 points with 7 rebounds. Keilani Peralta scored 11 points with 5 rebounds off the bench. Rome Falcocchia added 9 points and 6 rebounds.
The Raiders will take their Christmas break before returning to action at the East LA Tournament, Thursday 12/28 #4 Orange Coast College.
