Palomar Sweeps the Day with Wins Over Mt. San Jacinto and San Diego Miramar

MIRA MESA, CA (3/14/2025) -- The Palomar College women's beach volleyball team had a stellar performance on Friday, securing two victories in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) play. The Comets edged out a tough Mt. San Jacinto College team 3-2 before sweeping San Diego Miramar College 5-0. With the wins, Palomar improves to 6-7 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Palomar's match against Mt. San Jacinto was a hard-fought battle, with all three of their wins coming in thrilling three-set matches. At the No. 1 spot, Janell Spires and Emma Bambe rebounded from a slow start to defeat Josephine Springer and Katie Milan 12-21, 21-11, 15-9. The No. 2 pair of Brisa Necochea and Kylana Madayag also showed resilience, taking down Megan Gaddie and Brooklyn Jimenez 18-21, 21-11, 15-8.

Cadence Young and Kaia Lam sealed the victory at No. 3, battling through a back-and-forth match against Anna Ayala and Jade Tolliver before winning 21-9, 20-22, 15-8. Though the No. 4 and No. 5 pairs, Mariah Flores/Kiana Merrill and Bailey Prieto/Teiora Tinoisomoa, put up strong fights, they both fell in three-set battles.

In their second match of the day, the Comets dominated San Diego Miramar, earning a clean 5-0 sweep. Spires and Bambe cruised to a commanding 21-3, 21-8 victory in the No. 1 spot, while Necochea and Madayag fought through another three-set match before winning 18-21, 21-12, 15-5.

Young and Lam secured a comfortable 21-12, 21-7 win at No. 3, while Flores and Merrill put on an impressive performance, taking their match 21-4, 21-10 at No. 4. Prieto and Tinoisomoa rounded out the sweep with a dominant 21-12, 21-3 victory in the No. 5 slot.

With back-to-back wins, Palomar builds momentum as they continue their PCAC campaign. The Comets will look to keep their streak alive when they take on MiraCosta College and San Diego Miramar College on March 28.
