Flournoy’s Record Night Propels Palomar Past Grossmont
SAN MARCOS, CA (2/7/2025) -- The Palomar College women's basketball team remained undefeated in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) play with a 74-55 win over Grossmont College on Friday night. The victory, which moves the Comets to 17-6 overall and 9-0 in conference, was highlighted by a historic performance from Kailani Flournoy, who tied a program record with 25 rebounds—matching a mark set during the 1992-93 season.
Flournoy's dominance on the boards was paired with a game-high 19 points, securing an incredible double-double that fueled Palomar's victory. Kylee Trujillo added 18 points, hitting two three-pointers and converting 2-of-3 from the free-throw line, while Teanna Alaman contributed 11 points and six rebounds.
Palomar controlled the game inside, outscoring Grossmont 42-18 in the paint and outrebounding the Griffins 60-33. Their relentless effort on the glass led to 19 second-chance points, and the Comets shot 37.7% from the field while holding Grossmont to just 32.1% shooting.
After a closely contested first half, Palomar pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Grossmont 26-14 to take a commanding lead. The Comets' defense was also a difference-maker, forcing 11 turnovers and limiting the Griffins' three-point shooting to 26.3%.
Palomar now turns its attention to a Wednesday night road matchup against Southwestern College as they look to extend their perfect conference record and maintain their position atop the PCAC standings.
