BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College softball team hosted Palomar College on Friday and again on Saturday for a three-way with Folsom Lake. Bakersfield fell to Palomar but ended the weekend with a win over Folsom.
Game 1: Palomar Dominates Bakersfield, 12-2 (March 21, 2025) BC struggled in their opening game against Palomar, falling 12-2 in a tough contest. Palomar's offense came alive with 15 hits. Bakersfield's offense had difficulty keeping up, managing just four hits against Palomar's pitcher, who struck out eight over six innings.
Despite a late two-run effort in the sixth inning, the Renegades were unable to overcome Palomar's aggressive hitting and a five-run sixth inning that put the game out of reach. Serenity Angulo took the loss, allowing 10 runs (seven earned) over 6.1 innings.
Game 2: (March 22, 2025) The Renegades looked to bounce back in their second matchup against Palomar but were undone by a nine-run third inning. Bakersfield showed some offensive fight, with Aliya Perez collecting three hits and two RBIs, while Serenity Angulo also drove in two runs. Despite their efforts, defensive errors plagued BC, committing five in total. Palomar's pitching held Bakersfield scoreless through the middle innings to secure their second win of the weekend.
Game 3: The Renegades rebounded in their final game of the weekend with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Folsom Lake. After trailing 3-0 early, BC mounted a comeback with a three-run fifth inning highlighted by a clutch two-run double from Serenity Angulo. In the bottom of the seventh, Aliya Perez tripled and later scored on a sacrifice fly to secure the walk-off win.
Pitcher Serenity Angulo played a key role in the win, throwing 4.2 scoreless innings in relief to shut down Folsom Lake's offense.
