Fujiwara Helps Lead Men’s Water Polo to Split at Mount San Antonio Tournament

WALNUT, Calif. --- Freshman Scott Fujiwara scored 10 times in four matches as El Camino College went 2-2 at the Mount San Antonio Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Southwestern 13, El Camino College 11

The Warriors opened the tournament with a close loss to the Jaguars as Fujiwara and Tyler Reed led the team with three goals apiece. Heitor Trefilio added two goals and four assists in the loss with Sam Adams adding five saves.

The teams were tied 11-11 after three quarters but the Jaguars managed to get two goals in the final period while blanking the Warriors.

ECC 12, Fullerton 5

The Warriors got out to an 8-1 lead at the half and never looked back as Brayden Sanchez led the offense with four goals on four shot attempts. Reed, Fujiwara, Trefilio and Marc Bugarin all had two goals apiece with Adams making six saves in the victory.

ECC 13, Santa Monica 5

The Warriors opened Saturday's action with another dominant win as they were up 9-1 after two quarters and led 11-1 with 5:01 left in the third.

Fujiwara led the way with three goals and Trefilio added two goals and five assists. Reed also scored twice to go along with three helpers while Adams made seven saves to secure the win for the Warriors.

Cypress 15, ECC 9

A close game after two quarters went sideways in the third for the Warriors as the Chargers outscored ECC 5-1 in the period to turn a 7-5 Cypress lead into a six goal cushion and the Warriors could not recover.

Trefilio led the team with three goals and one assist with Fujiwara, Bugarin and Blake Klade adding two goals apiece in the loss.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday morning with a road game at Citrus.
