SAN DIEGO, CA (3/26/2025) -- With just three weeks left in the 2025 beach volleyball season, the race for the conference championship is set to reach its boiling point. San Diego Mesa College, the two-time defending champions, remain in first place with a perfect 6-0 record, but their biggest test is yet to come. MiraCosta College, sitting at 7-1, is hungry to dethrone Mesa, and they'll get their chance in a highly anticipated rematch on April 4th—a match that could determine the fate of the conference title.
Mesa has been unstoppable, showcasing their dominance with multiple sweeps and clutch performances from top pairs like Myah Gomez and Jaiden Mojica. Their depth and consistency have been the driving force behind their quest for a third consecutive championship. But their toughest opponent so far, MiraCosta, is looking for revenge.
MiraCosta's only loss of the season came at the hands of Mesa, but since then, they've been on a mission. Led by Daysha Halbert and Dani Szajkowski, MiraCosta has racked up convincing wins, including a 5-0 shutout over San Diego City College. With home-court advantage on April 4th, they'll have a golden opportunity to even the season series and put themselves in prime position for the conference crown.
Meanwhile, Mt. San Jacinto College (4-2) is still in the mix, aiming to solidify their spot among the top teams. Grossmont and Palomar (both 3-3) are fighting to break into the upper tier, while San Diego City College (1-6) and San Diego Miramar College (0-8) look to finish the season strong.
As if the team championship race wasn't exciting enough, the individual pairs tournament is set to begin on April 16th at MiraCosta College. This tournament will give the top duos from every school a chance to shine in a high-stakes showdown, regardless of team standings.
With everything on the line, the upcoming April 4th clash between Mesa and MiraCosta is shaping up to be the must-watch match of the season. Will Mesa stay undefeated and take one step closer to a three-peat? Or will MiraCosta rise to the occasion and turn the tide in the title race? One thing is certain—the battle for beach volleyball supremacy is far from over.
