Logan Huston Named Player of the Year; Mitch Charlens Earns Coach of the Year Honors

SAN DIEGO, CA (2/24/2025) -- The All-Conference selections for men's basketball have been announced, with San Diego City College's Logan Huston earning the prestigious Player of the Year award. Huston, a standout performer for City, played a key role in leading his team to a dominant 15-1 conference record. His consistent scoring, leadership, and ability to perform in crucial moments made him a clear choice for the top individual honor.

San Diego City College's head coach Mitch Charlens was named Coach of the Year after guiding his team to an outstanding season. Under Charlens' leadership, City finished atop the standings with a near-perfect record, showcasing their defensive intensity and offensive efficiency throughout the campaign. City won the conference title, with MiraCosta finishing in second place, Southwestern taking third, and Palomar securing fourth.

The First Team All-Conference selections feature a talented group of players who excelled throughout the season:

  • Logan Huston (San Diego City College) – The Player of the Year, Huston was a dominant force, averaging 13.3 points per game while shooting an impressive 58.9% from the field. His all-around game helped City control the competition.

  • Ramel Bethea (MiraCosta College) – A key contributor for MiraCosta, Bethea led his team with 12.8 points per game and was a force on the boards with 10 rebounds per game.

  • Ayden Lockett (Southwestern College) – The conference's leading scorer, Lockett averaged 19.5 points per game, proving to be a dynamic offensive threat for Southwestern.

  • Kenny Gonzalez (San Diego City College) – A reliable scorer for City, Gonzalez averaged 10.3 points per game while also contributing on both ends of the floor.

  • Isaiah Pomare (Palomar College) – A dominant post presence, Pomare averaged 18.1 points and 12.1 rebounds per game, making him one of the most consistent performers in the conference.

  • Takoma Rosario (San Diego Miramar College) – Rosario was an integral part of Miramar's attack, averaging 9.9 points per game while shooting 50% from the field.
