The Palomar College men's golf team captured the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference title on Monday by winning both rounds at El Camino Country Club in Oceanside.  In addition, Jacob Montes was named conference Player-of-the-Year.

Palomar finished 44-4 in PCAC play, going 8-0 at the conference finals on Monday.  The Comets had rounds of 392 and 380 to outpace Mt. San Jacinto College, who shot 416 and 406.  College of the Desert finished in second place in the PCAC standings with a 38-10 record in conference play after shooting 425 and 402 on Monday.

Palomar's Jacob Montes held off a late charge from Desert's Clem Heurtin to claim the conference's Player-of-the-Year award.  Montes opened with a round of 76 in the morning before closing out the conference schedule with a +1 round of 73 in the afternoon.  The sophomore from Torrey Pines finished PCAC play with a 74.2 scoring average.  Heurtin had a round of 81 in the morning before firing a -4 round of 68 in the afternoon to finish three shots behind Montes.  Palomar's Alex Rhee was the medalist on Monday, shooting 77-71 (+4). 

Palomar finished with five individuals making the All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Team.  Joining Montes and Lee on the team were Zach Brown, Kyoshiro Azumada and Richard Jeppesen.  In addition, College of the Desert had three players making the All-PCAC squad.  Joining Heurtin from the Roadrunners was Josh Lumgair and Michael Choma.  Cuyamaca College's Alfonso Franco and El Camino College's Ryan Omoto were also named to the team.

The CCCAA Southern California Regional Championships are scheduled for Monday, May 6, at Los Serranos Golf Club in Chino Hills.

PCAC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
