Mesa claims fourth consecutive title

NORCO, CA (10/28/2022) -- No. 1 San Diego Mesa College claimed the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championship on Friday with a score of 15 for their fourth consecutive title. Cuyamaca finished second with a score of 48.

The Olympian runners finished 1-2-3-4-5-7-8 for a team time of 1:45:46 with an average mile time of 5:18. The Cuyamaca Coyotes finished 6-11-16-17-18-22-23 with a team time of 1:52:34. 

Meas's Juan Rosales won the race. The sophomore posted a time of 21:04.0 while teammates David Millan and Jyden Schmid finished second and third with times of 21:07.4 and 21:09.6, respectively. Mesa's Victor Rosas and Bryce Kueker rounded out the top five. The PCAC competed with the Inland Empire Conference as well. All five of Meas's runners went 1-2-3-4-5. Cuyamaca's top runner, Jose Arrendondo, finished sixth. The sophomore finished with a time of 21:20.9.

San Diego City College, Imperial Valley College and Southwestern Colleges all competed but did not place as a team. City's top runner, Christian Juarez, finished in 20th place with a time of 23:37.8. Southwestern's Jefferey Salinas was behind him with a final time of 23:50.2. Imperial Valley's Hector Lopez finished 27th with a time of 27:42.8.

San Diego Mesa and Cuyamaca will be competing in the CCCAA SoCal Regional on November 4th at Bakersfield College.
