Mesa captures women’s swim title

The San Diego Mesa College women's swim and dive team is the champions of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) after winning the conference title on Saturday at Southwestern College. The Olympians have now won four straight PCAC titles dating back to 2017.

San Diego Mesa dominated from start to finish, outscoring second place Grossmont College by 211 points.  The Olympians won 10 different individual events and four of five relay events.

Sydney Fortune was a force for Mesa, winning three separate events to guide the Olympians.  Fortune captured individual titles in the 500 Freestyle (5:30.15), 100 Breaststroke (1:07.10) and 200 Breaststroke (2:26.81).  Her time in the 200 Breaststroke smashed the old conference meet record of 2:29.09 set back in 2017.

Joining Fortune on the podium with individual conference titles was Torrey Brindell (1650 Free), Laura Estrada (200 Fly), Kiley Knight (50 Free & 100 Fly), Tavaya Martinezcuello (400 IM) and Sera Nagel (1-M Dive & 3-M Dive).

San Diego Mesa will compete again at the California Community College Athletic Association State Championships on May 5 at East Los Angeles College.
