San Diego Mesa Claims Fourth Straight PCAC Women’s Track & Field Title

SAN DIEGO, CA (4/19/2025) -- The San Diego Mesa College women's track and field team claimed its fourth consecutive PCAC title in resounding fashion, scoring 323 points to take first at the 2025 Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championships. Cuyamaca College finished second with 118 points, while Palomar College earned third with 86.

Sophomore Ashley Nash continued to shine as one of the conference's top sprinters, winning the 100 meters in 11.89 seconds and helping lead Mesa to a first-place finish in the 4x100 relay alongside Abrielle Hagans, Abby Lamirande, and Jazmyne Binion. Lamirande added an individual title in the 200 meters (25.17) and contributed key points in the 400 meters.

Mesa's dominance extended into the middle distance and distance events, where Joelle Tonne won the 800 meters (2:16.99) and ran legs on the 4x400 relay. She was joined by Alexis Noble and Jazzlyn Islas in scoring a sweep in the 800. Mesa runners also swept the top four places in the 1500 and placed five in the top six in the 5000 meters.

In the field, Skyler Simpson led Mesa in the triple jump, placing second overall, while Emily Pesch won the high jump (1.58 meters) and scored in both hurdle events. Annaliese Pabelico earned points in the throws, while Palomar's Morgan Fornof and Fialupe Vaivai added strong performances in the javelin and discus, helping the Comets secure third place.

Cuyamaca's Alonna Bush turned in one of the top all-around performances of the meet, winning the 400 meters (58.17)and taking second in the 200 while also scoring in the relays and long jump.

With another conference trophy secured, the Olympians now set their sights on the postseason. The 3C2A Southern California Regional Championships will be held at Saddleback College, with prelims on Friday, May 3 and finals on Friday, May 10. San Diego Mesa is expected to qualify numerous athletes and relays, and will look to carry their momentum into the regional and state stages.
