Turner and Halbert selected as AOTW

SAN DIEGO, CA (11/14/2023) -- Palomar College's TJ Turner and MiraCosta College's Daysha Halbert have been named the PCAC Athletes of the Week.

Turner, a utility player on the men's water polo team for the Comets, helped lead the Comets to 3C2A SoCal Regionals after winning the conference the week before. The Comets faced LA Valley College in the opening round and Turner scored seven goals as the Comets defeated the Monarchs 14-10 to advance to the second round for the first time in recent memory. Turner also recorded two steals and had four exclusions drawn to go along with one block. The Comets then faced top-seeded Golden West College but ultimately saw their season end after a 19-7 loss. Turner had two goals, one assist and a steal on the day. Turner was named the PCAC Player of the Year and a First Team All-American.

Halbert, a freshman outside hitter for the Spartan women's volleyball team, finished with 34 total kills last week. She recorded a season-high 21 kills against Cuyamaca College on Friday after racking up 13 the match before against San Diego City College. Halbert also recorded three aces against City to go along with four digs. On Friday, Halbert hit .655 in the sweep over the Coyotes. She finished with nine digs on the night.
