SAN DIEGO, CA (2/7/2024) -- San Diego Mesa College's Alethze Marquez and San Diego City College's Alex Crawford have been named this week's PCAC Athletes of the Week. 

San Diego Mesa College upset No. 8 Palomar College last week and freshman Alethze (AJ) Marquez helped the Olympians pull it off. She had a season-high 24 points in 25 minutes as she went 10-15 in the field and 4-8 at the free throw line. She responded on Friday with 16 points against Southwestern College. Against the Comets she racked up 13 rebounds, eight of those offensive and totaled one assist. On Friday night, she finished with 12 rebounds, two assists and two blocks. 

In contrast to the Olympians, San Diego City College rebounded from an upset loss to MiraCosta College two weeks ago, by defeating Cuyamaca College and San Diego Mesa College. Alex Crawford finished with 50 total points in the two games. Finishing with 29 against Cuyamaca, going 13-18 in the field and 3-6 beyond the arc. He totaled 10 rebounds, one assist and two steals. On Friday night, he was 7-11 in the field and 6-6 at the free-throw line with eight rebounds, one steal and a block.
