SAN DIEGO, CA (4/2/2024) -- Palomar College's Makana Olaso and MiraCosta College's Daysha Halbert and Riley Rathfon have been named this week's PCAC Athletes of the Week after dominant performances last week.

Olaso, catcher and first baseman for the Palomar baseball team, and the Comets cruised past Imperial Valley College last week to on top in the conference standings. Olaso launched two home runs and recorded two doubles to finish 6-12 on the week. Olaso leads the team in home runs at eight this season. He also scored five runs. 

MiraCosta's flight 3 pair, Halbert and Rathfon, were sensational this week. They led the Spartans to two important wins, against Palomar College (5-0) and San Diego Miramar College (3-2). The two wins propelled MiraCosta towards the top of the conference standings with a 6-2 record. Halbert and Rathfon won their match against Palomar 21-9, 21-7 in true dominant fashion and pulled out a gritty three-set win against Miramar, 17-21, 21-8, 15-5.
