Men's Water Polo Improves to 4-2 On the Season After GWC Tournament

The American River College Men's Water Polo program traveled to Southern California over the weekend to participate in the Golden West College Tournament.

The Beavers competed in four matches against some of SoCal's top teams.  On Friday, the Beavers opened the tournament against the defending state champions Golden West College.  Although the Beavers fought tough, they would ulitimately drop the match 19-5.  However, the Beavers bounced back with an impressive 7-4 victory over Palomar College.

On Saturday, the Beavers fell behind 4-0 to Saddleback in the first match of the day, but was able to come back to tie that game at 4-4 after four straight goals by Kian Jang, Jayden Cunningham, Enrigque Gonzalez, and Caden Rutan.  The Beavers and Saddleback would continue to battle back and fourth before Saddleback scored four goals in the 4th quarter to take home the 11-8 victory.

However, the Beavers were able to leave the tournament on a positive note by defeating Ventura College 15-2 and improving their overall record to 4-2.

The Beavers will be back in action on Wednesday, September 20th as they travel to play Diablo Valley College at 3:30 PM.
