Olaso homers in 12-8 win over San Bernardino Valley

SAN BERNARDINO, CA (4/17/2024) -- The Palomar College baseball team took a brief break from conference play and faced San Bernardino Valley College and won 12-8 on the road to move to 26-8 on the season.

The Comets had a 3-1 lead before truly breaking the scoring open with a five-run fourth inning. With one out, Carter Joriseen reached on an error before Ian Halverson singled to get two baserunners. Elijah Cook then had an RBI single to short, but an error allowed Jorissen to score and Halversona and Cook ended up on second adn third. Colby Rafail then cleared the bases with a two-run single to center. Noah Lazuka had a line out to third before big Mak Attack Makana Olaso hit a two-run shot to left to make the score 8-1. 

Nathaniel Helton pitched five solid innings for the Comets allowing two runs on seven hits and recorded three strikeouts. Brandon Bollerer pitched two relief innings and allowed three hits and struck out three. Nick Crystal pitched an inning and allowed two runs on two hits. Lucas Smith closed out the game and allowed four runs on four hits, but only one run was earned.

Palomar will finish up their series with Southwestern College tomorrow and Saturday.
