Comets sneak past Jags to open conference

CHULA VISTA, CA (9/27/2023) -- Palomar College travelled down to Southwestern College on Wednesday afternoon for their conference opener and brought home a 13-12 win.

The Comets were down 2-0 going into the second quarter, but were able to start scoring and trailed 4-3 at halftime. Palomar was able to outscore the Jaguars in the hird quarter 7-6 and the fourth quarter 3-2 to pull out the one-point victory.

Caleb Hogle, TJ Turner and Phoenix Schultz each had three goals, while Emmanuel De La Torre finished with two. Ian Ritchie and Alex Alvarez finished with one a piece. Hogle dushed out three assists and totaled three steals on the day and also had two exclusions drawn. Goalie Tre Turner had two steals, along with Alvarez, Cody Poure and De La Torre. Tre Turner recorded eight saves on 20 shots. As a team, the Comets got off 37 shots. 

Palomar impvoes to 4-7-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. They will travel to LA Valley College on Saturday for a single match.
